I was born in Pakistan, grew up in Canada and lived in Spain before settling in London where I work as a writer, translator and creative writing facilitator.

My poetry has been appeared in the UK and US in publications including The Guardian, The Financial Times, Poetry Review and Modern Poetry in Translation.  My latest collection, The Art of Scratching, was published by Bloodaxe Books in 2015, and I am adapting my chapbook, The Courtesans Reply as a play.

In 2015 I was the recipient of a Brooklease Grant from the Royal Society of Literature, and an Artists’ International Development Fund award from the Arts Council and British Council.

Since 2008, I have facilitated creative writing/reading and translation workshops in the UK and abroad in schools, universities, refugee centres, prisons, museums and festivals.

I currently work with English Pen, The Poetry School and Translators in Schools and I’m an artist in residence with Living Words.
