On Monday I attended the launch of The Stories of Different Countries at the Tricycle Theatre. The anthology marks the culmination of a series of 10 workshops I ran with Nii Parkes for English PEN as part of their Readers and Writers programme, working with 30 newly-arrived sixth-form students from Copeland Secondary in Wembley.
It was a lovely launch – the students were glowing, their teachers were proud, I was proud – and then we celebrated with doughnuts! John Hegley, who was one of the guest poets during the sessions, also performed at the launch and delighted us all. He is wonderful… I think he may be perfect.
